Butterscotch Squares
Ingredients
- 1 cup dates
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 2/3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 3/4 cups icing sugar
Directions
- Pour the boiling water over the dates and cool. Combine the cake ingredients, add the dates, pour into a cookie sheet, and bake at 350°F for 20 to 30 minutes.
- For the icing, heat the butter and brown sugar, add the milk, cool, then add the icing sugar and spread over the cake.
